Hilary Ann Swank, born July 30, 1974, is an American actress. Her first film role was on the TV series Camp Wilder (1992), and her subsequent film appearance was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992). After that, she was the main character in The Next Karate Kid (1994) which was the fourth film in the series. She also played Julie Pierce (1994), in the fourth installment in The Karate Kid franchise. The film was highly praised for her performances , and won numerous awards including two Academy Awards for Best Actress. Time listed her as among the top 100 influential individuals globally in 2005. She was also in the films Conviction (2010), Amelia (2009) Then You're Not You (2014) and What They Had (2018). Other notable films she has produced include Iron Jawed Angels (2004) and the television film, Logan Lucky (2014), Fatale (2020), and The Homesman (2014). In 2022, she started starring in the television drama The Alaska Daily.Swank was born on the 30th of July 1974 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her mother, Judy Kay (nee Clough), was a dancer and secretary and her father, Stephen Michael Swank, was a Chief Master Sergeant in the Oregon Air National Guard and later, a salesman on the road. A lot of Swank's relatives hail of Ringgold County in Iowa.
