Alexandra Elizabeth Paul was born on July 29 1963. She is an American actress and activist. Paul started her modeling career in New York, before landing her first big role in Christine (1983) in a horror film by John Carpenter. This was followed with prominent role in American Flyers (1985), 8 Million Ways to Die (1986) as well as Dragnet (1987).She is most well-known for her character of Lt. Stephanie Holden in the TV series Baywatch from 1992 to 1997. She has performed in more than 100 films and television programs.Paul was born in New York City to Sarah who was a social worker from England as well as Mark Paul, an American investment banker. Paul was raised with her identical twin sister Caroline and younger brother, Jonathan who lived in the rural town of Cornwall, Connecticut. According to Paul, her mother was "a very liberal Democrat and her] father was a conservative Republican." Her twin sister Caroline has been an San Francisco firefighter (where she is often mistaken for Alexandra) and a best-selling author. Jonathan is her brother and is an activist for animal rights. Paul attended the Groton School in Massachusetts as well as the Cornwall Consolidated School. Between the ages of 17 and 18 Paul was undergoing two major abdominal operations to eliminate choledochal cysts which left her with a scar spanning from her sternum to her navel. Paul was accepted to Stanford University, but chose not to go there to focus on an acting career.
