Joyce DeWitt

 Joyce Anne DeWitt (born April 23rd 1949) is an American actor and comedian who is famous for her role as Janet Wood on the ABC sitcom Three's Company from 1977 to 1984.Joyce DeWitt was born April 23, 1949, in Wheeling, West Virginia, and was raised in Speedway, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. She attended Speedway Senior High School, and also worked in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway ticket officeShe is of Italian descent. She participated in debate and speech through the Indiana High School Forensic Association. After she received a bachelor's degree in theatre from Ball State University, she moved to California to earn her master's degree from UCLA, graduating in 1974.DeWitt began appearing on stage at the age of 13. She earned an undergraduate degree from Ball State University. She was then performing in summer stock when her director advised her to join UCLA's Department of Theater MFA Program. The program awarded her the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship as well as the Clifton Webb Scholarship. She was also secretary, before making her television debut in an episode of Baretta. Contrary to the rumor that she was trained by actor Abe Vigoda, Dewitt has said that the two did not meet.
