Joyce DeWitt

 Joyce Anne DeWitt, born on April 23, 1949, in Wheeling, West Virginia. She is an American comedian and actress best recognized for her character of Janet Wood in ABC's sitcom Three's Company. She graduated from Speedway Senior High School, and also worked in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway ticket officeShe is of Italian descen She competed in debate and speech with the Indiana High School Forensic Association. After receiving a bachelor's degree in theater from Ball State University, she moved to California to complete her master's degree at UCLA which she completed in 1974.DeWitt first appeared on the stage at 13. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. She was performing in summer shows when the director encouraged her to join UCLA's Department of Theater MFA Program. The program awarded her the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship as well as the Clifton Webb Scholarship. She was also secretary prior to making her television debut in the show Baretta. Dewitt has denied being mentored or even met the actor Abe Vigoda.
