Alice Catherine Evans

 Alice Catherine Evans (January 29 1881 - September 5 1975) was an American microbiologist.She became a researcher at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. There she investigated bacteriology in cheese and milk. Then, she discovered that Bacillus abortus, also known as Brucella which caused brucellosis both in humans and cattle. When Evans was between five and six She was educated at the home of her parents. She was then enrolled in a school with a single room house in Neath where she earned outstanding grades.In 1886, Evans survived scarlet fever and her twin brother Morgan. The school she attended was the Susquehanna Collegiate Institute, Towanda, and was a member of the women's basketball team. The sport of basketball was not a sport that was familiar to women, and had viewers awestruck. Evans was injured by a finger dislocated and a doctor refused treatment.
