Alice Catherine Evans

 Alice Catherine Evans, born January 29, 1881 and died September 5th 1975 in New York. She was an American microbiologist. There she investigated bacteriology in milk and cheese. Then, she discovered that Bacillus abortus, which is now known as Brucella which caused brucellosis both in humans and cattle. When Evans was between five and six years old She was taught at home by her parents and was then enrolled in a school with a one-room house in Neath where she was able to earn top grades.In 1886, Evans survived scarlet fever and her brother Morgan. She attended at the Susquehanna Collegiate Institute in Towanda, where she played on an basketball team for women. Basketball was not a sport that was familiar to women, and shocked the public. Evans suffered a dislocated hand and a doctor was unwilling to treat it
