She is known for her empathetic mezzo-soprano voice and confessional songwriting, Morissette began her career in Canada in the mid-90s with two dance-pop albums In 1995 she released Jagged Little Pill, an alternative rock album with elements of post-grunge. The album has sold more than 33 million copies around the world and is the most critically acclaimed of her albums to this point. She won the Grammy Award in 1996 for Album of the year. The album was also made into a musical of the name in 2017 which garnered fifteen Tony Award nominations including Best Musical.
