Alanis Morissette

 Alanis Nadine Morizsette laH-niss MORR'ih SET, born June 1, 1974, is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter and actress. Morissette is known for her distinctive mezzo-soprano voice, confessional songwriting and her Canadian-American roots. She began her career in Canada in the early 1990s, releasing two dance-pop albums. In 1995 she released Jagged Little Pill. This rock album that is a bit of an alternative, with elements of post-grunge, sold over 33 million copies in the world was her most highly and critically acclaimed. The album was awarded the Grammy Award in 1996 for the best album of the year. The album was later made into a musical of the name in 2017 which received fifteen Tony Award nominations including Best Musical. It also appeared in the editions of 2003 and 2020 of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time Guides. In 2017 it was made into a rock musical of the same name. The singer received nominations for 15 Tony Awards including for Best Musical. Her latest album, The Storm Before the Calm (ambient music) came out in 2022. The most well-known track, "You Oughta Know" was released in 2022.
