Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, nee Rai, was born on the 1st of November, 1973. She is an Indian actress best known for her roles in Tamil and Hindi films. As the winner of the Miss World 1994 pageant, she has become one of the most well-known stars in India. Rai has been awarded numerous awards and awards, including two Filmfare Awards, and was honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009 and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012. She has often been cited in the media as "the most beautiful woman in the world".While at the college years, Rai did a few modelling jobs. After appearing in several TV commercials, Rai entered the Miss India pageant. She placed second. She was later awarded Miss World 1994, after which she began receiving offers to appear in films. She made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam's 1997 Tamil film Iruvar and also had her first Hindi film released in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya that the same year. Her first commercial success was the Tamil romantic comedy Jeans (1998), which was the highest-priced Indian film at that time. Her film was more successful by winning two Filmfare Awards as Best Actress for her roles in Sanjay Lela Bhansali's romantic dramas Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas (2002).
