Aishwarya Rai Bachchan born Aishwarya Rai was born on November 1, 1973. She is an Indian actress, best known for her roles in Tamil and Hindi films. She is an Miss World 1994 winner and has become one of India's most beloved stars. Rai has received many awards and awards, including two Filmfare Awards, and was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012. Rai has been called "the most beautiful woman" by the media. Following appearances in several television commercials, she took part in the Miss India pageant, in which she came in second. After being crowned Miss World 1994 she started receiving offers to appear in films. Her acting debut was in Mani Ratnam's 1997 Tamil film Iruvar and also had her first Hindi film released in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya that same year. The first film to be commercially successful was Tamil romantic comedy Jeans (1998) that was the highest-priced Indian film of the time. She achieved wider recognition and won two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress for her performances in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's romantic dramas Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas (2002)
