Aja Naomi King (/'eIdZ@Born on January 11, 1985)is an American actress. She portrayed Michaela Pratt in the series How to Get Away with Murder. Her career began in guest-starring television roles. She was a part of The CW's medical comedy, Emily Owens. In 2014, King began starring in ABC's legal drama series How to Get Away with Murder. King received an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress for the Drama Series in the year 2015. Reversion (2015) as well as Four (2012) The series also featured her in the films Four and Reversion, which she as well. In 2016, she played Cherry Turner in the historical film The Birth of a Nation (2016) and the following year she starred in the comedy drama The Upside (2017).King was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Walnut, California.She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University's School of Drama in 2010.At Yale University, King performed in several productions which included A Midsummer Night's Dream, Little Shop of Horrors, and Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes.
