Aimee Mann

American singer-songwriter Aimee Elizabeth Mann was born on September 8 on the 8th of September, 1960. She has released more than 12 albums, both solo or working with other musicians, during her career. Her work with the producer Jon Brion in the 1990s was influential on American alternative rock. Moreover, she is noted for her sardonic and literate lyrics on darker subjects.Mann was born in Richmond, Virginia, and attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. After joining the Young Snakes (and later Ministry) Mann formed the new-wave band 'Til Tuesday (1985) as well as composed the number-one chart-topping hit song "Voices Carry". The group released three albums, but disbanded in 1990 after Mann decided to pursue an independent career.Mann made her debut album as a solo artist, Whatever, in 1993 and followed it up with I'm With Stupid in 1995. They received positive reviews however, they had a low number of sales which put Mann in conflict with her record company, Geffen. Mann's contributions to the soundtrack for the Paul Thomas Anderson movie Magnolia (1999) led to her receiving greater notoriety, resulting in nominations for both the Academy Award and the Grammy Award and Grammy Award, respectively. Following the fact that Geffen was unable to issue her album No. 3, Bachelor No. 2. Mann released it on her own label SuperEgo Records, in 2000. The album was a huge success and received praise from critics, which established Mann as a career artist who was able to work outside the major label system.
