Yasmin Vossoughian , '00, doesn't consider herself to be a writer. "I like to interact with people, that's how I learn," she explains. The task she had to complete for her economics class at Oxy was to write an article about the differentities in the way people live in the world. She took a video camera and documented a day in the lives of a CEO and a sewer worker. They discussed their jobs and shot in high-rises. "Someone said, 'You're gonna be the next Barbara Walters,'" she says with a laugh.Today she is telling stories as an anchor on MSNBC which is the second-most watched news channel and the only cable network in the top 25 that has grown by double-digits in the year the year 2018. "I am a sucker for breaking news," she says. Vossoughian declares, "I'm just a junkie in that regard." Vossoughian joined MSNBC in 2017 and soon became the regular anchor of "Morning Joe First Look," the predawn-newscast that leads into MSNBC’s flagship morning show. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, she hosts the newscast for two hours. She as well as her guest panelists debate the most important headlines that are happening in the news.
