Malcolm Washington, an American producer, director and writer, is more well-known than actor Denzel Washington's father. Born to a family of actors and theatre personalities, Malcolm was interested in film and filmmaking since a very young age. Malcolm pursued his passion and pursued an undergraduate degree in film studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Malcolm was also an accomplished basketball player, and played in his college. He decided to concentrate on film production and quit the sport of competitive basketball when he graduated. He began his professional career in the entertainment business as a production assistant for the film 'Chef' that was a huge success in 2014. He was elevated to the position of second assistant director for 'Trouble Man in the following year, and later became assistant director for the short film 'The Bookstore. Spike Lee also appointed him as his assistant in the series "She's Gotta Have It". His breakthrough was with the short film "Benny Got Shot" which was written and directed by him. Washington got a lot positive feedback for the movie and was awarded the Filmmaker Award by the Atlanta Film Festival. Washington recently produced "The Disput" and has several other projects in the works.
