Rosa Arianna "Rose” McGowan[note 1,] was born 5 September 1973. She is an American actress, activist , and singer. Her film debut came with a short role in the comedy Encino Man (1992), McGowan gained more attention for her role in the dark comedy The Doom Generation (1995) and was awarded an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance. She had her breakthrough in the horror film Scream (1996) and subsequently headlined the films Going All the Way (1997), Devil in the Flesh (1998) and Jawbreaker (1999).During the 2000s, McGowan became known to viewers on television for her performance in the role of Paige Matthews in The WB supernatural drama series Charmed (2001-2006). McGowan also played a lead role in the film of Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse (2007). McGowan received the Saturn Award for Best Actress as well as the Scream Award to be the most outstanding Scream Queen. In the action-thriller series Chosen (2014) in which she was Josie Acosta. McGowan was named the Silence Breakers by Time magazine in 2017. The magazine recognized her for her advocacy on sexual harassment and sexual assault in relation to Harvey Weinstein's cases of sexual abuse as well as the Me Too movement. McGowan has written her memoir, Brave, and starred in the four-part documentary series Citizen Rose, both in 2018.Rosa Arianna McGowan was born on the 5th of September 1973 in Florence Italy to American parents Daniel McGowan, an artist,and Terri who is a writer. Two half-siblings share her parents' name. Her father was the head of the Italian chapter leader of Children of God. He and his wife were members of this group until 1978. McGowan spent a lot of her early years in the group's communes. She often traveled through Europe with her parents.
