Alicia Linda "Lecy" Goranson (/'li:si/; born June 22nd, 1974) is an American actress. She appears as Becky Conner in the television sitcoms Roseanne which premiered in 1988. She also appeared in The Conners.She has also played as a supporting character in the films How to Make an American Quilt (1996), Boys Don't Cry (1999), and The Extra Man (2010).Goranson studied acting in Chicago and then was offered the part in the film Becky Conner. She had auditioned for the role only twice. The character was on the air for five seasons, before leaving the show in 1992, several episodes into the fifth season to go to Vassar College. The schedule of her studies allowed her to appear part-time as Becky. The writers and producers of the show created a couple of scenes for Becky under her new arrangement. After her departure, Becky began getting married to her lover MarkDuring the next season, producers wanted to bring back Becky's character. Goranson wasn't available, so Sarah Chalke auditioned for the role and was selected. Chalke played Becky throughout the sixth and seventh seasons. Goranson who was at college was able to play the role of Becky when the show entered the eighth season. Goranson was a guest on in the 8th season of the show but she found herself again having schedule conflicts with her school. Two times Goranson had to cancel of episodes in which the Becky character was necessary:
