Alisyn Lane Camerota (born June 21 1966) is an American broadcast journalist and political commentator. She currently hosts CNN Tonight from 10-11 pm. She was previously the anchor of CNN's morning program New Day, a co-host of the afternoon addition of CNN Newsroom as well as a presenter at Fox News. Camerota has reported on stories both nationally and internationally and has twice been shortlisted for an Emmy Award for news reporting.Camerota has covered the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in Houston and the Paris and Brussels terror attacks as well as the Parkland school shooting. In the hours following the massacre, she conducted interviews with Parkland survivors of the shooting as well as National Rifle Association representatives. Camerota has participated in many panels with Donald Trump supporters and is frequently in the negative about Trump. Camerota also covered the Me Too movement. Camerota was anchor on New Day and has also hosted a variety of primetime shows including Tipping Point, Sexual Harassment in America, and The Hunting Ground, Sexual Assault on Campus. Camerota was employed for many years by Fox News, most notably as a part of the Fox & Friends franchise, as well as co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend. Her first novel, Amanda Wakes Up, about a dreamy young journalist who gets an enviable job at the cable news channel during the midst of a raging presidential election, was released by Viking in 2017. It was praised by NPR as one of the top novels of the year, and by O, The Oprah Magazine as "a must read."
