Alicia Amanda Vikander (/vI'kaend@r/,Swedish: [a'li:sIa vI'kan:der] (listen); born 3 October 1988) is a Swedish actress. She is the recipient of various accolades which include an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and Critics' Choice Movie Award, as well as receiving nominations for two Golden Globe Awards and three British Academy Film Awards.Born and raised in Gothenburg, Vikander began acting as a child in minor productions on stage at the Gothenburg opera house. She also was trained as a dancer at the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm. Her acting career started in short films as well as television shows in Sweden. She first gained attention for her role on the drama series Andra Avenyn (2008)-2010. Her feature film debut in Pure (2010) which for which she received the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress. In 2012, she earned greater recognition for her role as Kitty in Joe Wright's adaptation of Anna Karenina. She also received the Guldbagge Award as Best Actress.
