Alexa Meade, born 1986 Alexa Meade, born in 1986, is an American installation artist from the United States. She is most well-known for her direct painting of portraits on the human body , or on inanimate objects. Her work creates models that appear like they are two-dimensional, and then collapses the depth. What is left is "a photograph of a painting of a person, with the actual person hidden somewhere underneath." She adopts a traditional idea - trompe-l'oeil, which is the art of making a two-dimensional representational painting look like an actual three-dimensional space and does the opposite by making the real world appear like a painting.Meade was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland. She graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 2009, with a bachelor's degree in political science.Initially looking to pursue a career to politics, she worked for senators and congressmen on Capitol Hill, and then was a press assistant on Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.
