Alex Guarnaschelli was born June 20, 1969. She is a world-renowned chef , who began her journey into international cuisine in Paris at the Michelin-starred restaurant Guy Savoy. Guarnaschelli worked for four years as a sous chef at Butte Chaillot after leaving Paris. After a huge success in France, Guarnaschelli returned to America and joined Daniel Boulud's restaurant, Daniel. In 2003, Guarnaschelli was given the possibility to broaden her repertoire and was appointed head chef of Butter and has since come up with her own unique American and green-market inspired menu. Guarnaschelli is a regular judge on the popular Food Network show Chopped and, in 2012, she bested nine rival chefs to take home The Next Iron Chef: Redemption winning the coveted title of Iron Chef. She is also a regular guest host on Beat Bobby Flay. Guarnaschelli is also the author of two cookbooks: Old-School Comfort Food: The Way That I Learned To Cook (2013) and The Home Cook : Recipes to Know By Heart (2017).
