Alex Guarnaschelli, born June 20, 1969, is a world-renowned chef who began her international culinary journey at Michelin three-star restaurant Guy Savoy in Paris. Guarnaschelli worked for four years as a sous-chef at Butte Chaillot after leaving Paris. After great success in France, she returned stateside to join Daniel Boulud at his restaurant, Daniel. In 2003, Guarnaschelli was given the chance to broaden her menu and became the executive chef at Butter, where she has since developed her own diverse American and green-market-inspired menu. Guarnaschelli is a frequent judge on the popular Food Network show Chopped and, in 2012, she beat nine chefs competing to be the winner of The Next Iron Chef: Redemption, earing the coveted name of Iron Chef. She has also been featured as a guest co-host on Beat Bobby Flay. Guarnaschelli is also the author of two cookbooks, Old-School Comfort Food : The Way that I Learned To cook (2013) as well as The Home Cook : Recipes to Know By Heart (2017).
