Alex Flanagan (nee Wystrach, born September 22, 1973) was an American sportscaster from the United States. She graduated from the University of Arizona. She started her career in news reporting and anchoring, and she began covering sports in 1998. She has worked for various networks like NBC Sports and NFL Network. Following graduation, she got her first TV job as an assignment-based news reporter and anchor for the weekend at KCCO-TV located in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was employed in this role for two years at WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Alabama.In 1998, Bruce Fraser, a friend and ex-teammate of Flanagan's husband helped her get an interview with one of her neighbors who was working for Fox. During the interview , she spoke with executives from Fox Sports, who had recently launched Fox Sports News-now Fox Sports Networks-. Flanagan was hired to be a reporter for the National Sports Report as well as a reporter/producer for Goin Deep, an Emmy-nominated weekly investigative magazine on sports. The show was hosted by Joe Buck and Chris Myers. Alex came across Keith Olbermann, an ex-Fox Sports anchor who was working in her office. About a year after, Olbermann was given his own weekly show, "The Keith Olbermann Evening News." Alex was the sole full-time reporter.
