Alex Flanagan (nee Wystrach; born September 22, 1973) is an American sportscaster from the United States. She graduated from the University of Arizona. Her career began as a news anchor and reporter before she started covering sports in 1998. She has worked for networks such as NBC Sports and NFL Network. After graduating, she was offered her first TV job as an assignment-based news reporter and anchor for the weekend at KCCO-TV in Alexandria, Minnesota. She worked in the same capacity for two years at WSFA-TV in Montgomery, Alabama.In 1998, Bruce Fraser, a friend and her former teammate from Flanagan's husband, assisted her to get an interview one of her neighbors who worked for Fox. During the interview , she spoke with executives at Fox Sports, who had recently launched Fox Sports News-now Fox Sports Networks-. Flanagan was hired to be a reporter for the National Sports Report as well as a reporter/producer for Goin Deep, an Emmy nominated weekly investigative magazine on sports. It was hosted by Joe Buck and Chris Myers. Alex met Keith Olbermann, an ex-Fox anchor from Sports, who was in her office. A year or so later, Olbermann was given his own weekly show, "The Keith Olbermann Evening News." Olbermann chose Alex as his only full-time reporter.
