 Alaina Kalanj, also known as Alaina Huffman, is an actress from Canada. Canadian actress. She was born April 17 in 1980. Her television and film credits include Painkiller Jane where she played Maureen Bowers. She played Dinah Lance/ Black Canary in the TV series Smallville as well as 1st Lieutenant. Tamara Johansen in Stargate Universe, where she was an active cast member. She was the character of the demon Abaddon in the American dark-fantasy television series Supernatural.Huffman was born Alaina Kalanj in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is of Croatian origin. At the age of 13 she went to her first audition to be a Fox Family Channel pilot, which was the first time she was given the principal role. A scout from a modeling agency instead recruited Huffman, and she was slated to model for high-end runways across Europe and Japan throughout the next years.When her parents moved to Dallas, Texas, she saw the opportunity to live in the United States and enroll in the college of her choice, leaving modeling behind. While in school she took on roles as an actor in a variety of independent films. In the end, she moved to Los Angeles, where she added more TV credits on her resume.
