April Jeanette Mendez (born March 19, 1987) is an American author, author, and former professional wrestler. Her experience in WWE where she was a part of the name of the ring, AJ Lee, is what makes her most well-known. She is currently the color commentator and executive producer for WOW - Women of Wrestling.Mendez began her professional wrestling career in 2007 when she was on the independent circuit of New Jersey. In 2009, she signed with WWE and spent two years as a development wrestler for Florida Championship Wrestling before being promoted to the main roster. She rose to fame in 2012 thanks to stories that featured her "mentally unstable" with significant relationships as well as a three-month period as General Manager of Raw. In subsequent years, she won the Divas Championship a record-tying three times and held it for an overall record-setting 406 days. She also received the Slammy Award for Diva of the Year in 2012 and 2014, and the readers of Pro Wrestling Illustrated voted her Woman of the Year from 2012 until 2014. In-ring performance was her last show in the year 2015.
