Adrienne Ames

Adrienne Ames was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1907. Her Hollywood debut in the late 1920s. Although her career lasted only 10 years, her entire life was filled with famous marriages and divorces. Her reputation as a glamorous queen and clothes horse far outweighed her fame as an actor. She was married Bruce Cabot in 1933 after she had left her first husband, a New York City stockbroker. However, their relationship was short-lived, lasting just four years. When she filed for divorce, she told the court that the main reason for her separation was because he was an aggressive, intoxicated drunk. The couple appeared before a US Tax Appeals Board in 1938 to explain why they had written off the value of $9000 of clothing and jewelry on their 1934 tax form. The woman claimed it was for professional reasons (as was her housekeeper). Her "daily expenses" were flowers, massages, taxis, and beauty services. She appeared in approximately 30 movies, mostly "B" films. You're Telling Me is perhaps her most well-known movie. (1934) featuring W.C. Fields. After her film career ended she worked as an radio commentator
