Born in Fort Worth, TX, in 1907, Adrienne Ames hit Hollywood in the late 1920s. While her career lasted around ten years, she crammed lots of life in it. She had high-profile marriages (and divorces) and her status as a fashion horse and a glamour queen to the max is far more impressive than her status as an actress. In 1933, she got married to Bruce Cabot after leaving her second husband, who was a wealthy New York City stockbroker, however she and Cabot only lasted for four years. She told the court in her divorce that she had quit Cabot due to him being an uncontrollable and violent drinker. In 1938, the couple was arraigned before the US Tax Appeals Board to discuss the reasons she deducted more than $9000 in wardrobe and jewelry on her tax return and claimed it was needed due to "professional motives" (as was the case with her maid). She stated that her "daily expenses" included massages, flowers taxis, beauty work. Her career was in the period from 1929 until in which she was a part in about 30 films, mostly "B" movies. The most famous of her films would probably be You're Telling Me! (1934) With W.C. Fields. Following her film career, she became a radio commentator
