Tyrone Curtis "Muggsy" Bogues (born on January 9 1965) is a former American basketball player. Bogues is 5 feet 3 inches (1.60m) tall, was the shortest player to ever be a part of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played guard on four NBA teams during his 14-year NBA career. Although best known for his ten seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, he also played for the Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors as well as the Toronto Raptors. Bogues had a career high of seven in assists in six consecutive seasons (1989-1995), and in the top ten in steals in three of those years. Bogues had 146 career NBA double-doubles.After his NBA career, he was as the head coach of the now-defunct Charlotte Sting of the WNBA.Bogues was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and lived in the Lafayette Court housing projects.His mother was 4 feet 11 inches (1.50 m) and his father was 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 m). The early years of his life were difficult for him. He was the oldest of three brothers and sisters. He was just five years old when he was hit by stray buckshot and admitted to hospital. The father of his was sentenced for an armed crime of robbery. Bogues also became a star wrestler and baseball player. When he was a kid, he played basketball in the playground Bogues was known as "Muggsy" after a diminutive character from The Bowery Boys.
