Kenneth Lauren Burns[11 (born July 29th, 1953) is an American filmmaker who is known for his documentary films and TV series, many of which focus on American history and culture. The work of Burns is usually produced with WETA-TV as well as the National Endowment for the Humanities and then distributed by PBS. He also served as executive producer of both The West (1996), and Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies (2015). [2] Burns's documentaries have been nominated for two Academy Award nominations (for 1981's Brooklyn Bridge and 1985's The Statue of Liberty) and have been awarded numerous Emmy Awards, among other honors.
