The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Educated Rapper, one of the founding members of the legendary rap group UTFO. A fellow UTFO member Kangol Kid confirmed the sad information on his Instagram account that EMD passed away at the Brooklyn hospital on Saturday (June 3). The Educated Rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Campbell was in hospital since the 2nd of June on Friday. Kangol Kid, Doctor Ice as well as Mix Master Ice started the Roxanne Wars with the 1984 song, Roxanne, Roxanne. The track prompted a variety of responses, most notably from Roxanne, a 14 year young rap novice from Queens, N.Y., as well as the real Roxanne. They were also featured in Krush Groove, a 1985 hip-hop-themed film. Several prominent hip-hop artists have paid tribute to the late rhymer upon learning of his passing.
