The U.S. and the Holocaust is a brand new series of three-parts that runs 6 hours and examines America's response in one of the most devastating humanitarian crises of our times. It was produced by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein. The show will air on September 18, 19, and 20th between 8 and 10 p.m. ET (check local listings) on PBS stations. The three episodes will be streamed on the night of the premiere on PBS.org as well as the PBS Video app. The film is an homage to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s "Americans and the Holocaust” exhibition and will be streamed live on PBS.org and the PBS video app. Geoffrey Ward wrote the series. The film provides a better understanding of the U.S. government's knowledge as well as actions in the Holocaust in Europe. The film addresses a variety of issues that are crucial to our society today, including how racism influences policies related to refugees and immigration as well as how people and governments respond to the rise of dictatorial states which manipulate history and the facts to increase the power of their rulers.
