As the heir apparent of Tommy Maddox's position, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Ben Rothelisberger. He would go on to become a star in the NFL to the streets in 2004. After Tommy Maddox suffered an injury during Pittsburgh's second week loss of 2004 against the Baltimore Ravens, Rothelisberger was promoted to the position of starting quarterback, and the Steelers season not the similar. He was dubbed Big Ben due to an impressive build, which was untypical for quarterbacks, the player took the lead in his first official start in the third week of 2004 and then won during week four. The Steelers and the player continued to win and, in the blink of an eye, the Steelers were a force within the AFC. This came after a disappointing 2003 season. This streak was cut to half after Rothelisberger steered Pittsburgh to a 34-20 win which gave them the AFC lead. Rothelisberger gave the Philidelphia Eagles 27-3 defeat on Sunday. It was the Eagles first loss of the season , and caused the Terrell Owens-Donovan Mcabb incident. Pittsburgh was now listed as a Superbowl potential candidate.
