 Vanilla Ice is the American rapper Vanilla Ice is a one-hit wonder that gained fame through the smash hit song "Ice Ice Babe". He was born in the name of Robert Matthew Van Winkle, the rapper was dubbed Vanilla Ice as a teen. A product of broken homes, he did not even know the identity of his biological father . He frequently moved to different places when his stepfather's job changed. As a teenager , he did poorly in school and was thrown out without completing his studies. The one thing that set the teenager apart from other youngsters from troubled homes was his incredible musical ability. He was a huge lover of hip-hop music, and loved to break dance, specifically the dance called 'ice'. This earned him his name. He gathered his own band of dancers, known as 'The Vanilla Ice Posse' and would perform on streets and in clubs. He also was passionate about motor racing, and won three consecutive titles in the National Grand Championship. After being injured that required him to retire from racing professionally, and instead focus his attention in music. He released his debut album "Hooked," which was then reissued under the name 'To the Extreme and 'To the Extreme'. It featured the track 'Ice ice Baby that became his claim to fame. It reached No.1 in the Billboard 200, and is widely credited with popularizing hip-hop with the white population.
