Rosamund Pike

In 1979, in London, England, actress Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the sole child of a classically trained violinist mother, Caroline (Friend), and a singing father, Julian Pike. Because of her parents' jobs, she spent her childhood touring across Europe. Pike was a student at the Badminton School in Bristol, England and began acting in the National Youth Theatre. When she was in the National Youth Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet", she was first noticed and signed by an agent. However, she continued to study in Wadham College, Oxford, where she read English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper-second class distinction degree.Pike has appeared in a variety of UK television series that included Wives and Daughters (1999) and then made her debut in a feature film as the beautiful glacier "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another Day (2002); when the film was released in 2002, she was only 23 years old. Although her debut film was a big-budget action film, the film following was primarily in smaller independent films, such as Promised Land (2004), The Libertine (2004), (for which she won the Best Supporting Actress award at The British Independent Film Awards) as well as Pride & Prejudice (2005), as one of the Bennet daughters. A brief venture into Hollywood film was followed by the action flick, Doom (2005) and the suspense film, Fracture (2007) However, she returned to smaller films with outstanding performances in three films which include A New Education (2009), Made in Dagenham (2010), as well as the lead role with Paul Giamatti in Barney's Version (2010).
