Mariska Hargitay

Mariska (Ma-rish-ka) Magdolna Hargitay was born on January 23 1964 in Santa Monica, California. Her parents are Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay. She is their youngest of three children. In the month of June, 1967 Mariska along with her siblings Zoltan and Mickey Jr. were in the back of a vehicle that was involved in a fatal crash that killed her mother. The three children were able to escape with only minor injuries. Her father remarried an stewardess by the name of Ellen who raised the three kids and gave them a normal, normal childhood. Children were also financially supported by them as Jayne Mansfield left no money following the death of his debt-ridden estate. Mariska studied theater at UCLA. Ghoulies (1985), which was a cult film, was her first feature. She delivered a memorable performance in the role of Donna. Mariska did not look like her mother Jayne who did nude pictorials and was given a new name as well as her hair colored and dyed her hair to make her a star. Mariska was not willing to alter her appearance or name. And she was not willing to replicate her mother's sexy image by avoiding nude scenes from her next film Jocks (1986). When casting directors asked her about her dark hair and athletic figure she replied that she was her personal style. They were hoping for Jayne Mansfield, a blond buxom. Mariska continued to take acting classes and waited at tables,
