Karen Gillan

 Karen Sheila Gillan is the only daughter of Marie Paterson (a singer and recording artist) and John Gillan (a Scottish born and raised girl). At 16 years old she found a passion for acting when she was a part of youth theatre groups and productions at Charleston Academy. She later trained in theatre under Scott Johnston at Performing Arts Studio Scotland. Later, she was accepted into the highly regarded Italia Conti Academy in London. During her first year she was offered a part on Rebus (2000) and soon appeared on various shows, including Channel 4's Stacked (2008) and The Kevin Bishop Show (2008) in addition to two years of the long-running TV series Doctor Who (2005). Karen is also a part of the film Outcast (2010) which stars James Nesbitt. Her most recent leading part is Eliza Dooley on the situation comedy Selfie (2014).
