Julie Benz was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA on May 1, 1972. Julie's father works as a Pittsburgh surgeon and her mother is an ice skater. The family moved to nearby Murrysville at the age of Julie was two, and she began skating at age three. She was a participant in the 1988 U.S. Championships in junior ice dancing together with partner David Schilling, coming in 13th. Her elder siblings, Jeffrey and Jennifer, were part of the 1987 U.S. She was a Junior Champion in ice dancing, and she also competed internationally. Julie was just 14 when she was struck by the stress fracture. She had to cease skating and began acting. Julie got a part in "Street Law" at the theater in town. Her first movie role was a small, credited, speaking part on the Black Cat episode in the Dario Argento/ George A. Romero co-directed horror film Two Evil Eyes (1990) playing in a scene with Harvey Keitel. One year later, she was offered a part in the television series Hi Honey. I'm Home (1991).
