Foxworthy was born Jeffrey Marshall Foxworthy in Atlanta, Georgia on September 6, 1958.He followed in his father's footsteps working for IBM in Georgia however, on the advice of his friends, he performed some comedy in the Atlanta comedy club. After a few months, Foxworthy quit his job and started on the stand-up comedy road. The comedy of Foxworthy was initially centered on family issues. But he quickly created his "You may not be a redneck" tagline. It is a reference to "a glorious inability to be sophisticated." Foxworthy was a stand-up comedian who released two albums that had a huge success as well as a growing trend in stand-up comedians creating their own sitcoms.
