Cheryl Ruth Hines was a daughter of Rosemary (Graham), and James Hines. She was born in Miami Beach on September 21 the 21st of September, 1965. She went to West Virginia University and Florida State University. She also completed her studies at the University of Central Florida. She studied theater and television production, but it wasn't until after she moved to Los Angeles and studied at the Groundlings Theater that she felt she really had gained any knowledge about comedy. Lisa Kudrow was her first teacher. She taught her how to improvise and write comedy sketches. This experience helped her prepare for her role as Larry David's wife on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000). The dialogue in the comedy is entirely improvised, and she feels right at home. When she gets the chance, she still performs at Groundlings Theater.
