Gwyneth Paltrow

 Gwyneth Kate Paltrow was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of noted producer and director Bruce Paltrow and Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner. Her father came from an ethnically Jewish family, while her mother was of predominantly German descent. Gwyneth at the age of eleven years old at the time, moved with her family to Massachusetts. Her father began working in the Berkshires the summer stock productions. This was where she started her acting lessons under the guidance of her parents. After finishing the Spence School for Girls in New York City, she moved to California and pursued a degree in Art History at UC Santa Barbara. The school was not something she was looking for and she quit. Her film debut came with a small part in Shout (1991) and over the following five years had been featured in a diverse collection of films that included Flesh and Bone (1993); Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994); Se7en (1995); Jefferson in Paris (1995); Moonlight and Valentino (1995); and The Pallbearer (1996). It was her performance in the title role of Emma Woodhouse in Emma (1996) that resulted in being asked to play Viola in Shakespeare in Love (1998) in which she received the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Academy Awards for Best Actress in the Leading role. In addition, she has appeared in The talented Mr. Ripley (1999), The Royal Tenenbaums (2000), Shallow Hal (2002), Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (2004) and Proof (2005). Her former husband, Chris Martin,
