George Foreman (in full George Edward Foreman) was an American boxer who twice was the world heavyweight champion (1973-1974, 1994-1995). When Foreman regained the heavyweight title at age 45, he was the oldest world heavyweight champion.Foreman was raised in Houston, Texas, and was taught to box at the U.S. Job Corps camp in Oregon. He won the gold medal in heavyweight boxing during the 1968 Olympic Games, Mexico City. On the 22nd of January, 1973, Foreman, who was 6'3" (1.9 m) tall, beat Joe Frazier in Kingston, Jamaica. He was awarded the professional heavyweight title. He was the winner of all 40 of his professional matches, including a sequence of 24 consecutive knockouts, when he fell to Muhammad Ali in eight rounds in the "Rumble in the Jungle" in Kinshasa, Zaire (now Congo), on October 30, 1974. In 1977, he retired from the ring, and became an advocate for the cause.
