Rosa Arianna "Rose" McGowan[note 1] (born on September 5, 1973) is an American activist and actress. After her film debut in a brief role in the comedy Encino Man (1992), McGowan achieved wider recognition for her role in the dark comedy The Doom Generation (1995), receiving an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance. She had her breakthrough in the horror film Scream (1996) and later was the main character in the movies Going All the Way (1997), Devil in the Flesh (1998) and Jawbreaker (1999).During the 2000s, McGowan became known to the public via her role in the role of Paige Matthews in The WB supernatural drama series Charmed (2001-2006). McGowan also played a lead role in the film of Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse (2007). McGowan received the Saturn Award for Best Actress as well as the Scream Award to be the best Scream Queen. In the action thriller series Chosen (2014) the actress was Josie Acosta. McGowan was called the Silence Breakers by Time magazine in 2017. She was recognized for her advocacy for sexual harassment and sexual assault related to Harvey Weinstein's cases of sexual abuse as well as the Me Too movement. Brave is her autobiography. Citizen Rose was her documentary series. Rose McGowan was born on September 5, 1973 in Florence, Italy to American parents, Terri McGowan and Daniel McGowan. Two half-siblings are her parents. Her father was the head of the Italian chapter of Children of God. He as well as his wife were members of the group from 1978 onwards. McGowan spent much of her early years in the group's communes. She frequently traveled across Europe with her parents.
