Amber Benson (born January 8, 1977) is an American actress, singer also a writer, director and producer. Her most well-known work is her role as Tara Maclay on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1999-2002) she has also been the director, producer and star in her own film Chance (2002) as well as Lovers, Liars & Lunatics (2006). She also appeared as the bride in Kiss the Bride (2007). She directed the film Drones (2010) with fellow Buffy cast member Adam Busch. Benson also starred as a waitress in the film The Killing Jar (2010).Benson was born January 8, 1977,in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Diane and Edward Benson, a psychiatrist.She has one younger sister named Danielle who is an artist. Her father was Jewish and her mother was raised by a Southern Baptist. grew up attending a Reform synagogue in Alabama.Benson was 14 when she made her debut in a feature film in Steven Soderbergh's film King of the Hill.Benson is best known for her role as Tara Maclay on the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The character first appeared on the season 4 episode "Hush" and was soon the partner of Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan). Benson was on the show through season 6, when her character was eliminated. In her final episode Benson was acknowledged for her only appearance as a regular cast member.
