Tessa Lynne Thompson, born on October 3 1983 was an American actor. While at Santa Monica College, she began her professional acting career at the Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company. She was part of productions of The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet, the latter of which earned her a NAACP Theatre Award nomination. She was the main character in Tina Mabry's independent film Mississippi Damned (2008) and Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls (2010). The latter was the one that earned her a NAACP Theater Award nomination. Her appearances in franchise films earned the attention of the mainstream media, such her roles as Bianca Taylor in Creed (2015) and Creed II (2018), and as Valkyrie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's superhero films Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).
