Whitney Cua Her (born in 1992) Also called Ahney Her on stage She is an American actress. Hmong descenAhney is an Lansing, Michigan native. She was raised there and was a graduate of Sexton High School. After three years of drama instruction at a local talent academy her first film appearance was Gran Torino (2008), directed by Clint Eastwood. Gran Torino features Eastwood as a Korean War vet who assists the Hmong American family living in Detroit. She plays Sue Lor, the smart and intelligent older sister of Thao Vang Lor. Bee Vang played her part. She was just 16 at the date of the film's premiere in wide release on January 9, 2009.She was cast in the film after she responded to an open casting request for sign-up at a soccer match. The open call was specifically looking for Hmong actors. In an interview in 2009 with The Grand Rapids Press, she told of, "I didn't believe it as the tent was announcing"Clint Eastwood movie or something similar, 'Hmong people needed.' I thought, "OK, that's right." If this were to happen. Out of all people, Hmong people? No. "Ahney Her" was in Grand Rapids, Michigan to attend the premiere of Gran Torino. The film premiered in Grand Rapids debut at the Theater One at Celebration! Cinemas North, January 9, 2009. She was cast as Nikki in Night Club the action comedy film with Zachary Abel and Natasha Lyonne.
