Tim Tebow

Many consider him to be the greatest player in the history of college football, Tim Tebow was born in the Philippines to Baptist missionaries. Before she became pregnant with him his mother was suffering from amoebic dysentery. While she was pregnant the medication used to treat the dysentery caused a severe placental abruption, a condition in which the lining of the placenta separates from the uterus. The Tebows opted to carry the baby to term as abortion was against their religious beliefs. Tim and his mother were featured in a pro-life commercial that Focus on the Family funded during Super Bowl XLIV (2010). This caused national debate and the family relocated to a farm near Jacksonville, FL where Tim and his siblings were home-schooled. Utilizing an act of the state that allowed home-schooled students to compete in high school sports in 2003 Tim and his mother moved to Ponte Vedra so he would be eligible to play football for Allen D. Nease High School. In his junior year the school awarded him the title of Player of the Year. He also received Mr. Football during his senior year. Three days after Nease was crowned state champion, Tebow declared that he would play for his alma mater, University of Florida, on the 13th of December, 2005.
