Lawrence Gene David, born July 2nd, 1947 was an American comedian, writer and actor. He also starred in the sitcom Seinfeld. David was the executive producer and head writer for the initial seven seasons. David gained more recognition for the HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm, which was created by him and which he starred in as a fictionalized version of himself. Since its debut episode, 1999, David has co-written or wrote the script for every episode. In 1993, he won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Individual Achievements in Writing in Comedy Series. He was a comedian before he became a TV comedian. He wrote and performed on ABC's Fridays, and briefly created a script for Saturday Night Live. He's been nominated for 27 Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. He was chosen by comedians, fellow comedians, and comedy insiders as being the 23rd most popular comedian in an 2004 British poll to choose "The Comedian's Comedy Star", and received the Laurel Award for TV Writing Achievement from the Writers Guild of America in 2010.Since 2015, he's appeared on a variety of guest appearances on Saturday Night Live, where he impersonates 2016 and 2020 U.S. presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
