Dove Olivia Cameron was born Chloe Celeste Hosterman on January 15th, 1996 in Bainbridge Island, Washington to Bonnie J. Wallace, an acting coach and Philip Alan Hosterman, a chief executive officer/founder of Kandahar Trading Company. Her roles include the dual character of the eponymous duo in the Disney Channel teen sitcom Liv and Maddie (2013), and as Mal the daughter of Maleficent and Maleficent in Descendants (2015). She also appeared as a regular character as Ruby in the ABC television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2018). She will be voiced by Spider-Woman in Marvel's upcoming animated film Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors (2018).When she was a kid she was a student at Sakai Intermediate School. At age 8, she began acting in community theater at Bainbridge the Bainbridge School of Performing Arts.When she turned 14 her family relocated to Los Angeles, California, where she sang in the Burbank High School's National Championship Show Choir. Cameron is of French heritage, and is a fluent and proficient speaker of French and has spent many years living in France. Cameron has said that she was bullied throughout her school years, beginning in fifth grade to high school. In spite of the pressures at school and fitting in, she stayed focused on her goals of becoming successful in the field of entertainment: "I became very passionate about being an actor and singeras well as a performer. I absorbed myself completely". Her father died in 2011, when she was just 15 years old.
