hris Rock , (born February 7, 1966, Georgetown, South Carolina, U.S.), American comedian who's stand-up routine -- which frequently addressed issues of race-related nature, led to the success of his film career.Rock was raised in the impoverished Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York. After dropping out of high school at 17 (he later received a high-school-equivalency diploma), Rock played small clubs in the New York area, where he was discovered by comedian-actor Eddie Murphy. Rock was offered a role as an actor on Saturday Night Live actor in 1990 after he landed roles in Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), and Keenen Ivory-Wayans's I'm Going to You Sucka (1988). In Living Color was his first Fox network show. He quit the show in 1993. Rock was the lead actor and created the script for CB4 (1993) prior to covering the 1996 presidential campaign for ABC's Politically Incorrect. Rock was then part of Big Ass Jokes (1994) which was his first HBO comedy special which was nominated for an award from the CableACE Award. Soon after, however, Rock found his popularity as a comedian and actor slowing down.
