Calum Thomas Hood (born 25 January 1996) is an Australian musician and musician best known for being the bassist and the vocalist of the band pop rock 5 Seconds of Summer. Since 2014, 5 Seconds of Summer have sold more than 10 million albums and sold more than two million concert tickets worldwide The band's song stream exceed seven billion which makes the band one of the most popular Australian musical exports in history.Calum Thomas Hood was born on 25 January 1996, and was raised in Mount Druitt, New South Wales. [5] His father is an ex- Coca-Cola employee, and his mother Joy Hood worked in superannuation. [6] Through his father he claims Scottish descent and through his mother he claims Cook Island Maori origins. Hood is the younger brother of Mali-Koa. Hood recalls that his childhood was "middle-class" with "not the most glamorous of lives.. [5] Hood was a student at Norwest Primary School where he befriended future band-mate Michael Clifford in the third grade. For his high school education, Hood attended Norwest Christian College where he met future band-mate Luke Hemmings in Year 7 after they performed a Secondhand Serenade cover at a school talent show
